Lifeline 214 - Are carbs really the enemy?

It's the word of the week

As you know, we don't do politics in the lifeline. We like to keep it light, fluffy and usually a little bit silly. But we are in the middle of a general election campaign and it's hard to ignore.

This week's unedifying TV debate featured two fully grown men, having a playground spat, arguing that "my dad's bigger than your dad".

Whatever your political persuasions, you've got to love an election. When else do you get to see normally sensible adults, telling a few fibs and being a little bit silly. Much like the Lifeline really.

An Ecuadorian election was won by some foot powder

Picoaza is a small town in Ecuador, with a population of 4000. During the mayoral elections in 1967, a company created some politically-themed adverts and leaflets, promoting their Pulvapies foot pwder. The joke campaign was so effective that Pulvapies was actually voted mayor.

No idea who's going to win, but apparently Preparation H are running a similar campaign in the UK election this year.
